I am ready.I can draw.I am good at drawing.
Notice the word order in three English sentences.

Classroom objects

A book has pages. A pencil is for writing or drawing. A ruler helps you draw straight lines. A desk is a table for working, and a bag carries things. Say each word, then use it in a sentence.

One object

We often put a or an before one thing: a pencil, an apple. Choose an before a vowel sound, rather than simply a written vowel. Start with an apple and an orange.

Instructions and numbers

Open your book, close your book, listen, read, and write are classroom instructions. Thirteen means 13; thirty means 30. Look carefully at the ending before choosing a number.

Worked examples

This is a ruler.

We introduce one object. A comes before ruler.

I have fourteen pencils.

Fourteen means 14. Pencils ends in s because there is more than one pencil.
